Jenny McCarthy Makes Out With New York City Cop To celeberate New Year eve

It is a long-standing tradition for many people at Times Square, to ring in the new year with a kiss from a loved one or significant other or perhaps someone with whom sparks had flown throughout the welcome night of 2012.
It was the the case for famous Jenny McCarthy on ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, who the cameras caught in the first minute of the year locking lips with an NYPD officer she later explained just happened to be closeby.

As the cameras recording to every reporter and host on the show tonight, the cameras caught McCarthy making out with a uniformed officer. She later had quite a bit to explain, but it appeared to be a simple story: “I just happened to be standing with that hot cop… nice to meet you!” For those wondering, he rated the kiss a perfect 10.

It was wonderful night to see the people celebrating the new year eve at times square.

Dick Clark Has Nada on Santa Claus New Years 2012 Eve Celebration

countdown was seen as the  Year 2011 felt in North Pole, Alaska. Besides, Santa’s got at least a century on Dick Clark. While Dick Clark is now 82 years old, the Santa, the version of him that puts him living at the ice of North Pole, is at least 182 years old. So if age is a consideration, Santa claus is the man, and ice full North Pole, Alaska is the place to be, or at least looking on the web cam as it gets closer to midnight.

“Christmas in Ice is the magical event that lights up the Christmas season in Interior Alaska.  Located next door to Santa Claus House, our Ice Park features Christmas-themed ice art sculptures by local and international carvers,” says the brochure that Melissa Fye produced this year.

“Christmas in Ice”, features their New Year’s Eve Snowflake Drop from 10 pm – 1 am, which is North Pole’s version of the Big Apple’s ball drop. Fireworks start at midnight, and this year’s tree, with its ten-thousand dancing LED lights, is accompanied by music syncopated with them. “…the synchronized lights will blink on and off more intensely as the clock ticks down 2011,” she says.

Every year the snowflake has a new look and presentation, this year it was designed by Jonathan Huff of Alaska Universal Productions and Tom Erte, says Melissa.  For next year, North Pole’s 2012 Version of the Big Apple drop came from Western New Yorkers, Tom and Roxy Ertel,  who wanted to bring some of New York to their new home in North Pole, says Melissa.

“Christmas In Ice” is located at 101 Santa Claus Lane at North Pole, Alaska, which is approximately twelve miles from Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway. Just look for the forty-two foot Santa Claus on your right just after the overpass, slow down and take the next right off the highway, then another sharp right back up the access road, which is Santa Claus Lane.

Mercedes-Benz SLK who has a tradition of getting a nose job done as along the lines of another sibling

Mercedes-Benz SLK who has a tradition of getting a nose job done as along the lines of another sibling. When it was unveiled in 1997, at a first glance the SLK looked like the SL. The next generation 2005 model has nicked the nose off the SLR McLaren. but Now, the latest edition is reminiscent of SLS 350 but it is good to see it again.

Highlights:
Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 has the looks to kill with folding top that moldes the car into a sexy convertible or a two-seater speed demon roadster. By resembling the iconic SLS model with the similar front grill and the design, the SLK 350 records more brownie points in the gorgeous department.

The  3.5-litre V6 engine of SLK 350  releases 302bhp which makes sure the cars does 0-100kmph in just 5 seconds. The smooth 7-speed automatic is extremely responsive gives a sportscar feel and making it agileas well.

The steering wheel is bit dull with respect to the roadster.
The compact aerodynamic design stands out  almost 45-degree slope to the windshield, which gives this sexy roadster great shape .

On the handling , the roadster gives  a lot of confidence when one throw it into a sharp corner. Not only does the SLK holds its own but you don't have to battle or experience any scary understeer. But with the SLK being a mini-sports car of sorts, the steering wheel is the weak link in this fabulous package. Unfortunately it is just does not give the crisp response one expects from a roadster.

The ride quality of the SLK is something worth raving about as Mercedes has not stiffened the suspension so much that you get to feel each bump or cat-eye on the road. Usually, car manufacturers go overboard with the suspension when it comes to two-seaters and one only ends up experiencing a bone jarring ride. The SLK though is extremely practical in the city limits and while tackling traffic.

A talking point of the SLK 350 has to be the panoramic vario-roof. It gets the new Magic Sky Control roof — which alters its opacity at the push of a button. This snazzy transforming roof is now 50kg lighter too. With winter setting in, somehow the longer, wider and considerably more luxurious new SLK with it's roof tucked in the boot sounds like a good idea.

Michelle Duggar had a miscarriage

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar  were looking for child number 20 but the laws of nature were against them, as per medical experts. After  announcing her pregnancy in public,  45-year-old had a miscarriage.
At a routine doctor’s appointment, the couple — stars of  “19 Kids and Counting” — learned that she had lost her baby no 20 in the second trimester. The family is now resting at home and asked for privacy.
As women age, chromosomal abnormalities are more common, according to Dr. James Woods, chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Rochester in New York. “It’s not necessarily that she had one too many pregnancies.”

“That doesn’t mean a 45-year-old is incapable of carrying a pregnancy,” said Woods. “More and more, we look at multi-factoral components in how the egg and sperm unite into that magic transformation to become a person.”

In about half the cases, a cause cannot be determined. Among the conditions usually linked to miscarriage are advanced maternal age, chromosomal abnormalities, structural problems, infections, autoimmune disorders or a condition that causes the blood to clot in the placenta, known as thrombophilia.

“As one gets into post 35, 40, 45 age range, you have a greater and greater risk in the sperm to egg fertilization, to the blastocyst [differentiation], to the uterus,” he said. “There is a greater risk of genetic abnormality — some lethal to the pregnancy itself … That’s why we do genetic screening.”
Michelle Duggar has had a previous miscarriage in her second pregnancy, according to People magazine. And their last child, Josie, was born 15 weeks early by Caesarian because her mother had preeclampsia, the number one cause of maternal death around the world.

Duggar said that she and her husband will name the child before a burial service.
“I feel like my heart broke, telling my children,” she told People. “We have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult. The Lord is the giver of life and he can choose when that life is ready to go on and be with Him.”
Women grieve deeply, no matter how many children they have had,  according to Woods, who is author of “Loss During Pregnancy and the Newborn Period.”

“The psycho-social issues are easily brushed aside among their audience because they are transfixed on the fact that she had 19 kids,” he said. “They think miscarriage means nothing.  That’s where medicine has failed women in the past.”

Bob Costas Interviews Jerry Sandusky About Penn State Scandal On NBC

NEW YORK -- NBC worked feverishly to spread the word about Bob Costas' exclusive interview with former assistant Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, who is accused of sexually assaulting boys, even as the two men were still on the phone together.

Their talk, broadcast Monday on the "Rock Center" newsmagazine, was part of a remarkable evening of news interviews on broadcast TV. It competed directly with Diane Sawyer's interview with U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on ABC, which was ABC's most-watched news show since the summer.

The riveting interview with Sandusky, who is accused of sexually abusing eight boys over a 15-year period, was a surprise even to Costas. The veteran NBC Sports anchor was in a Manhattan studio for an interview with Sandusky's lawyer, Joseph Amendola, when the lawyer said, "What if I can get Sandusky on the phone?" Costas said Tuesday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"I'm thinking, `I wonder from your standpoint whether that's the smartest thing to do,' but at the same time, sure if you want to do it. Let's get him on the phone," said Costas, who declined an interview request with The Associated Press through a spokeswoman.

About 10 or 15 minutes later, the interview began.

NBC immediately faced a challenge in how to publicize an interview with three hours' notice, particularly given that few people watch NBC's prime-time lineup. The interview was taped starting about 6:30 p.m. EST, and while it was still happening, a producer called to a nearby studio where Brian Williams was anchoring "Nightly News" to make sure Williams promoted it before he got off the air, said Rome Hartman, "Rock Center" executive producer.

"Rock Center" staffers also began tweeting quotes from the interview almost as soon as they left Sandusky's mouth, and the show's blog was updated. A video clip of the interview was posted online by about 7:30 p.m., with all TV networks given permission to use it.

Ultimately, "Rock Center" was seen by 3.87 million viewers, Nielsen said, well behind the 13.4 million people who watched the well-promoted interview with Giffords. That still beat the 3.46 million people who watched "Rock Center" the previous Monday, and clips of the interview were widely disseminated and discussed on Tuesday.

With countless journalists looking to speak to Sandusky, it's not clear why Costas was chosen. Perhaps his work in sports made him a more familiar and comfortable choice for a man who was Joe Paterno's top defensive assistant for many years at Penn State.

As television, the interview was minimalist: Phone interviews are rarely seen on TV because of the lack of video. NBC ran some still pictures of Sandusky, but otherwise the camera focused largely on Costas' face.

Costas was blunt, often uncomfortably so.

"What about Mike McQueary, the grad assistant who in 2002 walked into the shower where he says in specific detail that you were forcibly raping a boy who appeared to be 10 or 11 years old?" Costas asked. "That his hands were up against the shower wall and he heard rhythmic slap, slap, slapping sounds and he described it as rape?"

Sandusky answered that it was false.

Costas also asked specifically about touching boys' genitals and performing oral sex.

"There's no way to sanitize it," Hartman said. "If you do, you do a disservice to the viewers."

Perhaps the most arresting moment came when Costas asked Sandusky if he was sexually attracted to underage boys. Sandusky at first repeated the question, then said: "I enjoy young people. I love to be around them," before denying sexual attraction.
Bob Costas Interviews Jerry Sandusky About Penn State Scandal On NBC

"I'll let the viewer infer what they want from that, but it was somewhat odd," Costas said on "Morning Joe."

Dona Hayes, chairwoman of Syracuse University's broadcast and digital journalism program, said she thought Costas did an outstanding job with the interview.

"He was respectful of the ongoing legal process, but at the same time he asked the pointed questions that echoed what many fair-minded people, in Costas' words, were thinking and asking," Hayes said.

Costas didn't sensationalize, attack or dismiss Sandusky, wrote Jeff Labrecque of Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday. "He stuck to the facts, and let Sandusky's words – and silences – do his work for him," he said.

It could be a defining moment for the Williams-hosted "Rock Center," in only its third episode and struggling in the ratings.

"This helped put us on the map," Hartman said. "It's not as if we were flying under the radar, but you need to give people a reason to watch if you're a new program."

Justin Timberlake on Marine Corps Ball: ‘I knew I would have an evening that I wouldn’t forget’

Justin Timberlake is a man of honor.

After the singer-turned-actor attended the Marine Corps’ 236th Birthday Ball in Richmond, Va., Sunday, he took to his blog to describe the event as “one of the most moving evenings I’ve ever had.”

It was especially magical for his date. Last summer, Cpl. Kelsey De Santis posted a sassy video on YouTube asking Timberlake to attend the ball on her arm. She had been inspired by his “Friends With Benefits” co-star Mila Kunis accepting another Marine’s invite to a similar Nov. 18 event.

While Timberlake is currently dating on-again girlfriend Jessica Biel, De Santis was open to all the possibilities.

“Of course, I’m single!” she joked when “Access Hollywood” recently asked about her relationship status. “I don’t know [if a kiss will happen]. I guess that’s all up to JT and what his plans are.”

Always the gentleman, Timberlake, 30, would never kiss and tell. Instead, he gushed about how grateful he was to De Santis.

“Thank you Corporal Kelsey De Santis,” Timberlake wrote on his blog. “Thank you for inviting me. And, thank you for being my hero.”

Timberlake then spread his love around to all the Armed Forces.

“I’ve always felt like they offered us the opportunity to live our lives freely without the fear that so many other nations have to endure still to this day,” blogged Timberlake. “And, they do it without asking for anything in return. I had this very feeling walking into this dinner. So, to say I was stoked to be there would be more than accurate.”

He was also humbled.

“It was a surreal moment to be in that room with so many of our great Marines who have such a different type of connection to those stories,” Timberlake wrote about watching a tribute with the Marines that included footage from Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

“I glanced around the room at young men and women, spouses and soldiers … At kids way beyond their years, really … All so deeply entwined,” he wrote. “Not just by battle, even though we who have never endured anything remotely close to those experiences and have NO position to comment on … But, by having such life changing experiences through them and to not ever waver in their love and respect for our homeland.”

While those in attendance undoubtedly will always remember the ball, the star will too.

“I knew I would have an evening that I wouldn’t forget … Something I could tell my friends about,” Timberlake said. “What I didn’t know was how moved I would be by the whole experience

David Nelson did his best to avoid an awkward situation on Sunday November 13 .

After catching a three-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to put the Buffalo Bills on the scoreboard, 21-7, Nelson first celebrated with his teammates in the end zone, then went to the sideline and handed the ball to his girlfriend -- who happens to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

"It was a special moment to share with her," Nelson said of Kelsi Reich, who is in her fourth season as a Cowboys cheerleader. "I didn't want it to be awkward."

Nelson's gesture thrilled Reich, who tweeted after the 44-7 Cowboys win: "What a special day today was! I feel so blessed & so proud of @DavidNelson86! Thanks for my game ball, I wont let go of it :) happiest girl!"

Some of Nelson's Twitter followers approve of the move as well, calling it "classy" and "adorable."

But Nelson also is receiving his share of backlash, with tweets such as "you embarassed Buffalo and its fans by celebrating down 21-7 w that ... skit ... act like you care about the game!" and "You can showboat when ur up 30 points, not down 2 td's on the road."

Nelson, who is from Wichita Falls, Texas, (about two hours from Cowboys Stadium) has been pretty low-key with his responses to the haters, saying things such as "I respectfully disagree" and "check the game film. I played my tail off. I wanted that win more than anything."

But just in case that didn't shut them up, he also retweeted this photo of beaming Reich holding the game ball, which she captioned "Happiest girl in the world! :)"

Andy Rooney dies at 92

By Associated Press
NEW YORK - Andy Rooney so dreaded the day he had to end his signature "60 Minutes" commentaries about life's large and small absurdities that he kept going until he was 92 years old.

Even then, he said he wasn't retiring. Writers never retire. But his life after the end of "A Few Minutes With Andy Rooney" was short: He died Friday night, according to CBS, only a month after delivering his 1,097th and final televised commentary.

Rooney had gone to the hospital for an undisclosed surgery, but major complications developed and he never recovered.

"Andy always said he wanted to work until the day he died, and he managed to do it, save the last few weeks in the hospital," said his "60 Minutes" colleague, correspondent Steve Kroft.

Rooney talked on "60 Minutes" about what was in the news, and his opinions occasionally got him in trouble. But he was just as likely to discuss the old clothes in his closet, why air travel had become unpleasant and why banks needed to have important-sounding names.

Rooney won one of his four Emmy Awards for a piece on whether there was a real Mrs. Smith who made Mrs. Smith's Pies. As it turned out, there was no Mrs. Smith.

"I obviously have a knack for getting on paper what a lot of people have thought and didn't realize they thought," Rooney once said. "And they say, 'Hey, yeah!' And they like that."

Looking for something new to punctuate its weekly broadcast, "60 Minutes" aired its first Rooney commentary on July 2, 1978. He complained about people who keep track of how many people die in car accidents on holiday weekends. In fact, he said, the Fourth of July is "one of the safest weekends of the year to be going someplace."

More than three decades later, he was railing about how unpleasant air travel had become. "Let's make a statement to the airlines just to get their attention," he said. "We'll pick a week next year and we'll all agree not to go anywhere for seven days."

In early 2009, as he was about to turn 90, Rooney looked ahead to President Barack Obama's upcoming inauguration with a look at past inaugurations. He told viewers that Calvin Coolidge's 1925 swearing-in was the first to be broadcast on radio, adding, "That may have been the most interesting thing Coolidge ever did."

"Words cannot adequately express Andy's contribution to the world of journalism and the impact he made - as a colleague and a friend - upon everybody at CBS," said Leslie Moonves, CBS Corp. president and CEO.

Jeff Fager, CBS News chairman and "60 Minutes" executive producer, said "it's hard to imagine not having Andy around. He loved his life and he lived it on his own terms. We will miss him very much."

For his final essay, Rooney said that he'd live a life luckier than most.

"I wish I could do this forever. I can't, though," he said.

He said he probably hadn't said anything on "60 Minutes" that most of his viewers didn't already know or hadn't thought. "That's what a writer does," he said. "A writer's job is to tell the truth."

True to his occasional crotchety nature, though, he complained about being famous or bothered by fans. His last wish from fans: If you see him in a restaurant, just let him eat his dinner.

Rooney was a freelance writer in 1949 when he encountered CBS radio star Arthur Godfrey in an elevator and - with the bluntness millions of people learned about later - told him his show could use better writing. Godfrey hired him and by 1953, when he moved to TV, Rooney was his only writer.

He wrote for CBS' Garry Moore during the early 1960s before settling into a partnership with Harry Reasoner at CBS News. Given a challenge to write on any topic, he wrote "An Essay on Doors" in 1964, and continued with contemplations on bridges, chairs and women.

"The best work I ever did," Rooney said. "But nobody knows I can do it or ever did it. Nobody knows that I'm a writer and producer. They think I'm this guy on television."

He became such a part of the culture that comic Joe Piscopo satirized Rooney's squeaky voice with the refrain, "Did you ever wonder ..." Rooney never started any of his essays that way. For many years, "60 Minutes" improbably was the most popular program on television and a dose of Rooney was what people came to expect for a knowing smile on the night before they had to go back to work.

Rooney left CBS in 1970 when it refused to air his angry essay about the Vietnam War. He went on TV for the first time, reading the essay on PBS and winning a Writers Guild of America award for it.

He returned to CBS three years later as a writer and producer of specials. Notable among them was the 1975 "Mr. Rooney Goes to Washington," whose lighthearted but serious look at government won him a Peabody Award for excellence in broadcasting.

His words sometimes landed Rooney in hot water. CBS suspended him for three months in 1990 for making racist remarks in an interview, which he denied. Rooney, who was arrested in Florida while in the Army in the 1940s for refusing to leave a seat among blacks on a bus, was hurt deeply by the charge of racism.

Gay rights groups were mad, during the AIDS epidemic, when Rooney mentioned homosexual unions in saying "many of the ills which kill us are self-induced." Indians protested when Rooney suggested Native Americans who made money from casinos weren't doing enough to help their own people.

The Associated Press learned the danger of getting on Rooney's cranky side. In 1996, AP Television Writer Frazier Moore wrote a column suggesting it was time for Rooney to retire. On Rooney's next "60 Minutes" appearance, he invited those who disagreed to make their opinions known. The AP switchboard was flooded by some 7,000 phone calls and countless postcards were sent to the AP mail room.

"Your piece made me mad," Rooney told Moore two years later. "One of my major shortcomings - I'm vindictive. I don't know why that is. Even in petty things in my life I tend to strike back. It's a lot more pleasurable a sensation than feeling threatened."He was one of television's few voices to strongly oppose the war in Iraq after the George W. Bush administration launched it in 2002. After the fall of Baghdad in April 2003, he said he was chastened by its quick fall but didn't regret his "60 Minutes" commentaries.

"I'm in a position of feeling secure enough so that I can say what I think is right and if so many people think it's wrong that I get fired, well, I've got enough to eat," Rooney said at the time.

Andrew Aitken Rooney was born on Jan. 14, 1919, in Albany, N.Y., and worked as a copy boy on the Albany Knickerbocker News while in high school. College at Colgate University was cut short by World War II, when Rooney worked for Stars and Stripes.

With another former Stars and Stripes staffer, Oram C. Hutton, Rooney wrote four books about the war. They included the 1947 book, "Their Conqueror's Peace: A Report to the American Stockholders," documenting offenses against the Germans by occupying forces.

Rooney and his wife, Marguerite, were married for 62 years before she died of heart failure in 2004. They had four children and lived in New York, with homes in Norwalk, Conn., and upstate New York. Daughter Emily Rooney is a former executive producer of ABC's "World News Tonight." Brian was a longtime ABC News correspondent, Ellen a photographer and Martha Fishel is chief of the public service division of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Services will be private, and it's anticipated CBS News will hold a public memorial later, Brian Rooney said Saturda

Qaddafi was Pulled from drain pipe, shown no mercy

Dragged from hiding in a drainage pipe, a wounded Moammar Qaddafi raised his hands and begged revolutionary fighters: "Don't kill me, my sons." Within an hour, he was dead, but not before jubilant Libyans had vented decades of hatred by pulling the eccentric dictator's hair and parading his bloodied body on the hood of a truck.

The death Thursday of Qaddafi, two months after he was driven from power and into hiding, decisively buries the nearly 42-year regime that had turned the oil-rich country into an international pariah and his own personal fiefdom.

It also thrusts Libya into a new age in which its transitional leaders must overcome deep divisions and rebuild nearly all its institutions from scratch to achieve dreams of democracy.

"We have been waiting for this historic moment for a long time. Moammar Qaddafi has been killed," Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril said in the capital of Tripoli. "I would like to call on Libyans to put aside the grudges and only say one word, which is Libya, Libya, Libya."

President Barack Obama told the Libyan people: "You have won your revolution."
Although the U.S. briefly led the relentless NATO bombing campaign that sealed Qaddafi's fate, Washington later took a secondary role to its allies. Britain and France said they hoped that his death would lead to a more democratic Libya.

Other leaders have fallen in the Arab Spring uprisings, but the 69-year-old Qaddafi is the first to be killed. He was shot to death in his hometown of Sirte, where revolutionary fighters overwhelmed the last of his loyalist supporters Thursday after weeks of heavy battles.

Also killed in the city was one of his feared sons, Muatassim, while another son - one-time heir apparent Seif al-Islam - was wounded and captured. An AP reporter saw cigarette burns on Muatassim's body.

Bloody images of Qaddafi's last moments raised questions over how exactly he died after he was captured wounded, but alive. Video on Arab television stations showed a crowd of fighters shoving and pulling the goateed, balding Qaddafi, with blood splattered on his face and soaking his shirt.

Qaddafi struggled against them, stumbling and shouting as the fighters pushed him onto the hood of a pickup truck. One fighter held him down, pressing on his thigh with a pair of shoes in a show of contempt.
Fighters propped him on the hood as they drove for several moments, apparently to parade him around in victory.

"We want him alive. We want him alive," one man shouted before Qaddafi was dragged off the hood, some fighters pulling his hair, toward an ambulance.

Later footage showed fighters rolling Qaddafi's lifeless body over on the pavement, stripped to the waist and a pool of blood under his head. His body was then paraded on a car through Misrata, a nearby city that suffered a brutal siege by regime forces during the eight-month civil war that eventually ousted Qaddafi. Crowds in the streets cheered, "The blood of martyrs will not go in vain."

Thunderous celebratory gunfire and cries of "God is great" rang out across Tripoli well past midnight, leaving the smell of sulfur in the air. People wrapped revolutionary flags around toddlers and flashed V for victory signs as they leaned out car windows. Martyrs' Square, the former Green Square from which Qaddafi made many defiant speeches, was packed with revelers.

In Sirte, the ecstatic former rebels celebrated the city's fall after weeks of fighting by firing endless rounds into the sky, pumping their guns, knives and even a meat cleaver in the air and singing the national anthem.
The outpouring of joy reflected the deep hatred of a leader who had brutally warped Libya with his idiosyncratic rule. After seizing power in a 1969 coup that toppled the monarchy, Qaddafi created a "revolutionary" system of "rule by the masses," which supposedly meant every citizen participated in government but really meant all power was in his hands. He wielded it erratically, imposing random rules while crushing opponents, often hanging anyone who plotted against him in public squares.

Abroad, Qaddafi posed as a Third World leader, while funding militants, terror groups and guerrilla armies. His regime was blamed in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland and the downing of a French passenger jet in Africa the following year, as well as the 1986 bombing of a German discotheque frequented by U.S. servicemen that killed three people.

The day began with revolutionary forces bearing down on the last of Qaddafi's heavily armed loyalists who in recent days had been squeezed into a block of buildings of about 700 square yards.

A large convoy of vehicles moved out of the buildings, and revolutionary forces moved to intercept it, said Fathi Bashagha, spokesman for the Misrata Military Council, which commanded the fighters who captured him. At 8:30 a.m., NATO warplanes struck the convoy, a hit that stopped it from escaping, according to French Defense Minister Gerard Longuet.

Fighters then clashed with loyalists in the convoy for three hours, with rocket-propelled grenades, anti-aircraft weapons and machine guns. Members of the convoy got out of the vehicles, Bashagha said.
Qaddafi and other supporters fled on foot, with fighter in pursuit, he said. A Qaddafi bodyguard captured as they ran away gave a similar account to Arab TV stations.

Qaddafi and several bodyguards took refuge in a drainage pipe under a highway nearby. After clashes ensued, Qaddafi emerged, telling the fighters outside, "What do you want? Don't kill me, my sons,' according to Bashagha and Hassan Doua, a fighter who was among those who captured him.

Bashagha said Qaddafi died in the ambulance from wounds suffered during the clashes. Abdel-Jalil Abdel-Aziz, a doctor who accompanied the body in the ambulance during the 120-mile drive to Misrata, said Qaddafi died from twbullet wounds - to the head and chest.

A government account of Qaddafi's death said he was captured unharmed and later was mortally wounded in the crossfire from both sides.

Amnesty International urged the revolutionary fighters to give a complete report, saying it was essential to conduct "a full, independent and impartial inquiry to establish the circumstances of Col. Qaddafi's death."
The TV images of Qaddafi's bloodied body sent ripples across the Arab world and on social networks such as Twitter.

Many wondered whether a similar fate awaits Syria's Bashar Assad and Yemen's Ali Abdullah Saleh, two leders clinging to power in the face of long-running Arab Spring uprisings. For the millions of Arabs yearning for freedom, democracy and new leadership, the death of one of the region's most brutal dictators will likely inspire and invigorate the movement for change.

As word spread of Qaddafi's death, jubilant ibyans poured into Tripoli's central Martyr's Square, chanting "Syria! Syria!" - urging the Syrian opposition on to victory.

"This will signal the death of the idea that Arab leaders are invincible," said Egyptian activist and blogger Hossam Hamalawi. "Mubarak is in a cage, Ben Ali ran away, and now Qaddafi killed. ... All this will bring down the red line that we can't get these guys."

Thursday's final blows to the Qaddafi regime allow Libya's interim leadership, the National Transitional Council, to declare the entire country liberated.

It rules out a scenario some had feared - that Qaddafi might flee into Libya's southern deserts and lead a resistance campaign. Following the fall of Tripoli on Aug. 21, Qaddafi loyalists mounted fierce resistance in several areas, including Sirte, preventing the new leadership from declaring full victory. Earlier this week, revolutionary fighters gained control of one stronghold, Bani Walid.

Information Minister Mahmoud Shammam told AP that Muatassim Qaddafi was killed in Sirte. Abdel-Aziz, the doctor who accompanied Qaddafi's body in the ambulance, said Muatassim was shot in the chest. Also killed was Qaddafi's Defense Minister Abu Bakr Younis.

Justice Minister Mohammed al-Alagi said Seif al-Islam Qaddafi had been wounded in the leg and was being held in a hospital in the city of Zlitan, northwest of Sirte. Shammam said Seif was captured in Sirte, but the senior NTC leadership did not immediately confirm.

The National Council will declare liberation on Saturday, Mohamed Sayeh, a senior council member, said. That begins a key timetable toward creating a new system: The NTC has always said it will form a new interim government within a month of liberation and will hold elections within eight months.

But the revolutionary forces are an unruly mix of militias from Libya's major cities, and already differences have emerged between them. Revolutionaries from Tripoli, Misrata and Benghazi - Libya's second-largest city that has served as the rebel capital during the civil war - have exchanged accusations that each is trying to dominate the new rule.

Also, Islamic fundamentalists have taken an increasingly prominent role, pushing for some form of Islamic state in Libya, causing friction with more secular leaders.

"Libyans aim for multiparty politics, justice, democracy and freedom," said Libyan Defense Minister Jalal al-Degheili. "The end of Qaddafi is not the aim, we say the minor struggle is over. The bigger struggle is now coming. This will not happen unless all the Libyan people are ... united."

Rangers headed back to World Series

Texas,The ground was spread with empty bottles of ginger ale and red, white, and blue confetti. The white hodings  was already hanging over the steel façade beyond center field: 2011 AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS, it said.

The ground speakers were blaring "We Are The Champions." The fans were in the stands, still on their feet. It was nearing 11 p.m. in the heart of Texas and the celebration was just started at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. But as Nolan Ryan walked off the field to the roar of the crowd, the team president and CEO barely cracked a smile.

"We haven't finished what we set out to do," Ryan said. "We've still got four more games to win."
While they haven't won a World Series in their 51-year history, the Texas Rangers have officially arrived as an American League superpower. For 50 years they were one of the worst organizations in all of professional sports -- until last October, they were the only major league franchise never to have won a playoff series. Now here they are, headed to a second straight Fall Classic after their 15-5 romp over the Detroit Tigers in Game 6 of the ALCS. George W. Bush and Dirk Nowitzki were among the 51,508 in Arlington to watch Texas become the fifth AL team to win back-to-back pennants since the introduction of the LCS in 1969. New York, Boston: step aside.

"They proved in this series that they were the team that should represent the American League in the World Series," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "We're a class organization. They are a class organization. And I tip my hat to them."

From the first day of spring training these Rangers were on a mission to prove that their magical 2010 season wasn't a fluke. They went on to win a franchise-record 96 wins during the regular season and, after rolling over the Rays and Tigers in the first two rounds of the postseason, are now only the third AL franchise other than the Yankees over the last 40 years to reach the World Series in consecutive years (the Blue Jays in '92 and '93 and the A's dynasties of the early '70s and late '80s are the others).
It didn't look good for Texas in the early innings of Game 6. Miguel Cabrera got the scoring going in the top of the first, ripping a 96 mph fastball from Derek Holland for a home run over the right-field wall, just beyond the reach of Nelson Cruz. In the top of the second, Jhonny Peralta hit another opposite-field home run to right field.
VERDUCCI: Rangers ride unusual winning formula back to World Series
Then came the fateful bottom of the third. With two men on, Michael Young drilled a slider from Max Scherzer down the left-field line for a two-run double to tie the score. Adrian Beltre then broke a 0-for-13 slump with an RBI single, and the Rangers took a 3-2 lead. After Scherzer walked Cruz to load the bases, Leyland decided he'd seen enough from his starter.
Leyland then made a decision that will haunt him all winter: he decided that Daniel Schlereth was the man he wanted on the mound with his team's season on the line. Schlereth's last appearance was on Oct. 4 in Game 4 of the ALDS against the Yankees. He struggled with his control all season, with 31 walks in 49 innings. But here he was, in a one-run game, with the bases loaded, one out, and everything on the line. On a 2-1 count, Schlereth threw a sinker that didn't sink and David Murphy lined it to center field for a two-run single. Game over. Series over.
Now the Rangers await the winner of the NLCS, with three days off until the start of the World Series. There will be many questions leading up to Game 1, of course. Will Ron Washington keep Cruz, the hottest player on the planet, hitting seventh in the order? Can the Rangers keep winning without a starter tossing a quality start? Will Derek Holland finally give up on his moustache?
There are no more questions about this team's place in the American League. With a talented core of young players, with one of the smartest front offices in the game, with a monster TV deal, the Rangers are positioned to rule the American League for years to come. But there remains unfinished business this October. "We're happy to go to the World Series right now," says Young, the longest-tenured Ranger. "But we've still got a lot of work to do."

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) how the Meta tags helps

Getting your site listed in Google,Yahoo,Bing,Ask and the other search engines is the most awarding ways of directing free, targeted traffic to your pages.

Now a day’s most of the traffic lands to the web pages from the major search engines. The Search Engines Determines the page Rank

Before one try to submit their site to the search engines, one must understand what they looking for when they decide how to rank their site. Listing is not a guarantee to get traffic. Prior to it one have to make sure that the site is search engine ready or not.

The thumb rule is that most engines use a "formula" to find the keyword relevancy. The technical term which is called an "algorithm” and each search engine has their own unique algorithm that it uses to rank the web pages.

Generally, the formula includes page title, overall body of the content and the number and quality of links pointing back to the site, social media influence, and how long visitors stay on site, etc.

It's important to know that every search engine is different from other. Some considers at inbound links (number of people linking to you), others may place more emphasis on your body content.

It is important to know about Meta tags. These are hidden descriptors that appear at the beginning of your HTML code, inside your <head> tag.
They may be invisible to the visitor's eyes, but search engine spiders can takes it seriously.

They usually consist of a title, description, and keyword tag and they look something like this:

<head>

<title>Title of Your Site</title>

<meta name="description" content="Description of your site here.">

<meta name="keywords" content="keywords separated by commas">

</head>

Because of chances of abuse, search engines now put less emphasis on certain tags while ranking the pages, but you the site owner must include them because they do use them to display information about the web site.

For example, whatever is inside the <title> tag is what the search engines will use as the title of your site in the search results. You want to use keywords that describe your page and entice visitors to click.

Note: Bloggers do not need to manually insert this code as there are places to insert your title, description, etc. in the "Edit" most when you are creating your posts.

Vladimir Putin more popular than me: Medvedev

Moscow, Oct 2 : Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has revealed that he is not willing to run for a second presidential term because Prime Minister Vladimir Putinis popular and more authoritative to handle the responsibility.

"It did not mean next year's election result was predetermined," Mr Medvedev said in an interview with the Russian television channels Channel One, Rossiya and NTV.

"Certainly, I am glad to realize that the incumbent President enjoys quite a high level of trust, he has quite high election rating in the current situation, but, on the other hand, I note that Prime Minister Putin is definitely the most authoritative politician in our country now, his rating is higher," Mr Medvedev said.

"In fact, this is practical, but very important issues, which any politician should take into account, if the latter wants to bring some benefit to his country, rather than elbowing," he said.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's bid to return as the president post that he held between 2000 and 2008 has angered the country's dead opposition.

However Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told Russian TV new faces would "renew" the government.

"It will be a pivotal renewal of the government - a government consisting of new people. This is fundamentally important," he said.

Pro-Kremlin United Russia party has indorsed the proposal of Putin's that Medvedev heads the party list for the parliamentary elections and take the responsibility as Prime Minister after the presidential poll.

The decision of Medvedev to exchange the roles had been taken years back but he had kept open the option of running for president, depending on his acceptability.

Amazon Unveils 'Fire' Tablet, Kindle Taking tab on Apple's iPad

Amazon.com unveiled its most-awaited tablet computer Kindle Wednesday with the price tag of  $199  and Kindle 'Touch,' an e-reader with a touch screen, starts at $99 the tag is cheap enough to give Apple's iPad a tough competition for the first time.

At a press conference in New York, Amazon launched the Kindle Fire, a tablet with a seven-inch nice screen, free data storage in the cloud and a new Internet browser called Amazon Silk. Shipments for the Fire will start Nov. 15.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos also released the Kindle Touch, an e-reader with no buttons and a touch screen starting at $99, along with one with cellular network access that will cost $149 and a basic Kindle e-reader at a new price of $79.

"We've now reached the magical two-digit price point for Kindle-twice: the new Kindle and Kindle Touch are only $79 and $99. Kindle Touch 3G is the new top of the line e-reader with free 3G—no monthly fees or annual contracts—and is only $149," Bezos said. "Kindle Fire brings together all of the things we've been working on at Amazon for over 15 years into a single, fully-integrated service for customers."
"These are premium products at no premium prices," Bezos said. "We are going to sell millions of these."
Experts expected the tablet to be priced around $250, roughly half the price of Apple’s dominant iPad, which starts at $499. The Nook Color e-reader costs $249.

Having its own tablet is important for Amazon because the company has amassed a mountain of digital goods and services that could be sold through such a device.

As the world's largest Internet retailer, a tablet might also encourage Amazon customers to shop online for physical products more often.

Breaking into the tablet market will be difficult. Companies including Hewlett Packard , Motorola Mobility, Samsung and Research in Motion Unavailable have each launched tablets but none have taken a bite out of Apple's lead.

Apple dominates the North American tablet market, with 80 percent of the 7.5 million units shipped during the second quarter of 2011, according to Strategy Analytics. Many have tried to copy its success, but so far, the iPad is the only really successful product in the tablet market. Apple sold 28.7 million of them from April 2010 to June 2011.

Model of Marketing

Ralph Mroz designed the Synchronous Marketing Process (SM)© model below. (SM is used by permission.) A model is a tool that systematically arranges an analytical framework and translates key inputs into outputs. It is often used when answers to strategic questions are not immediately obvious, but when quantifiable and repeatable relationships exist between outputs and inputs. A model's repeatable nature makes it ideal for analyzing multiple scenarios and helping decide the most appropriate course of action.

The Synchronous Marketing Process (SM) is a model of an integrated, structured, repeatable marketing process. It divides marketing into two broad categories. The right side of the model refers to marketing planning (strategic marketing activities) and the left side of the model refers to marketing operations (tactical marketing activities). The SM model is circular and constantly interacting linked by appropriate information flows. It guides the organization through a complete and thorough examination of the market, its opportunities, the development process and promotional tasks.

Internet and Marketing

Until recently marketers could reach customers by advertising, by phone, by mail, or in person. Now marketers have the Internet which is available around the clock, every day. Marketers can build relationships with customers at their convenience, and at a much lower cost. They can provide customer service whenever people need it -- and make it easily accessible. The Internet is the newest way to attract new customers, as well as build loyalty.

Concepts in Marketing

The role of a mutually satisfying exchange is central to the marketing concept. The Marketing concept is satisfying the customer at a profit. Three features of the marketing concept are customer orientation, coordinated effort by all departments within the organization to provide customer satisfaction, and emphasis on long-term profit.

The marketing concept describes an ideal state of affairs. It exists when an organization focuses all of its efforts on providing products that satisfy its customers. The customer is the focal point for how each area of the organization is run. Products are created with the goal of satisfying customers' needs and wants. All departments within the organization work together toward the goal of customer satisfaction. They closely coordinate their efforts both to satisfy customer wants and achieve the organization's long-run goals.
When an organization is attempting to implement the marketing concept, it has a market orientation. An organization is market oriented when it generates market intelligence on its customer needs, disseminates the intelligence across departments, and then responds organization-wide to the information. Organizations adopting the marketing concept are committed to market-focused and customer-driven philosophies.

A more recent philosophy is the societal marketing concept, which enlarges the marketing concept by asserting that organizations should determine customers' needs and wants and then deliver superior value to the target market in a way that improves customers' and society's well-being. It requires that an organization think about the long-run interests of society in satisfying consumers while meeting organizational objectives. Extending the time dimension means that the organization takes a long-term view of customer satisfaction. It takes into account the need for organizations to act responsibly not only towards their customers, but also towards the environment and other needs of society. Extending the breadth dimension means the organization recognizes that the market includes not only buyers of the organization's products but also other people affected by the organization's operations. It has become good business to consider and think of society's interests when the organization makes marketing decisions.

It is obvious to most consumers in the marketplace that many organizations have not adopted the marketing concept. In fact, these organizations are successful in spite of themselves. A market orientation is not important when competition is not intense, when market preferences are stable, during periods of booming economies, and when industries are characterized as technologically turbulent. Examples of marketers who do not follow the marketing concept include companies that make products in terms of what designers or engineers say they can produce. The product planner does not study how the product or its features could meet consumer needs. For those companies, marketing remains just selling. Alternative concepts under which organizations conduct their marketing activities include production, product, and selling.
According to the Production concept, the focus of marketing efforts should be on improving production and distribution efficiency. This works well when there is a great deal of unmet demand for a product or when the cost of the product is so high that it needs to be manufactured cheaper in order to get consumers to adopt it. This philosophy is clearly seen in an anecdote about Henry Ford. When someone asked him why his popular Model T automobile was not available in the variety of colors, he is supposed to have quipped "Customers can have it in any color they want, as long as it is black!"

The production concept was rampant in American industry during the Industrial Revolution. Companies prided themselves on manufacturing more products better and cheaper than their competitors. However, a focus simply on production and distribution efficency ignores an important factor -- the needs of the customers. Inventors and entrepreneurs often fall victim to the production concept and fail to think about the needs of the customers. Developing an innovative product cheaper than the competition is no good unless it satisfies the needs of the customers. There are many examples of companies developing extraordinarily efficient and powerful software packages that have failed because of a lack of user-friendly features.
The product concept is a philosophy that focuses on the features of the product. While the production concept argues for the focus on production and distribution processes, the product concept assumes that consumers will buy the product with the best quality, performance and features. Ralph Waldo Emerson professed this philosophy when he said, "If a man … makes a better mousetrap … the world will beat a path to his door." Unfortunately, this is not necessarily true. Customers will buy products that they perceive as providing them with the best value. This is not necessarily the same as the product with the most features.
Theodore Levitt advanced the thesis that market definitions of a business are superior to product definitions of business. Focus on the product rather than the benefit the product offers to consumers can result in what Levitt calls marketing myopia or shortsightedness. The organization fails to see the impact of a changing environment on its future. It loses sight of underlying customer needs by only focusing on existing wants. The product focus was apparent when the railroads went into decline, according to Levitt "because they assumed themselves to be in the railroad business rather than the transportation business." This resulted in their completely overlooking the threats posed by alternative forms of transportation.

A product, according to Levitt, is not a thing but a complex cluster of satisfactions. (See Theodore Levitt's The Marketing Imagination, Free Press, 1983; Theodore Levitt, "Marketing Myopia," HBR July-August 1960, pp. 45-56.)

The selling concept is used when companies find themselves with an overabundance of products that they have to sell in order to deplete their inventories. Followers of the selling concept believe that consumers will not buy their products unless they undertake a large-scale selling and promotion effort. Their aim is to sell what they make rather than make what will sell in the market. This concept is typically practiced with unsought products, those that consumers don't ordinarily think of buying such as funeral insurance. The danger, however, is that the focus on "making the sale" overshadows the focus on building long-term relationships with customers. Once a customer buys the product, this philosophy assumes that he or she will be satisfied with the product or will simply forget about any disappointment or dissatisfaction with having bought an unsatisfactory product.
